CEF Orange and District
CEF Orange and District fundraises throughout the year and accepts donations from local residents and businesses in order to provide financial grants to students who need an extra helping hand. The funds come directly from your local community – none of it is government funded – celebrating the aspirations of local youth and working to help them achieve these aspirations.

We`re halfway through June and there`s still time to donate to help students, like Samantha, look forward to the future.
Like three quarters of CEF students, Samantha had to move away from home to pursue her studies and, with no financial assistance from family, she assumed she would have to fund everything on her own. Support from CEF meant she could cover her relocation costs and focus on her goal of becoming a teacher in regional Australia.
Donate by 30th June to double your impact and make your gift go twice as far to help young regional Australians pursue further education and training and chase their career goals.

It`s the final day of National Volunteer Week and we have loved celebrating the dedication and commitment of our 430 volunteers from all across regional Australia. Thank you for your dedication to supporting your local youth and helping set them up for success in their post-school education and employment ambitions!
We have one final student to feature. Meet Charlotte from Temora who wants to pursue a career in environmental sustainability!
Happy National Volunteer Week to all our volunteers!

National Volunteer Week might soon be coming to a close for another year, however, our student thanks and words of gratitude continue!
Meet Lucy, from Great Lakes, a soon-to-be Physiotherapist! She says it best when she mentions CEF support is about building brighter futures together; a great sentiment to how our volunteers support their local youth and encourage them to dream big.

We love getting out and about and meeting our grant recipients!
Last night, our CEO, Wendy Mason, joined the community of @drewscollege, for their annual Scholarship Dinner, to congratulate and celebrate our 2025 St Andrew`s College-CEF Scholarship recipients, Lucy (CEF Cowra), Isaac (CEF Coonamble & Districts) and Sophie (CEF Nyngan).
Thank you to St Andrew`s College for their support of CEF and belief in rural and regional youth, like Lucy, Isaac and Sophie.

Our student thanks continues this National Volunteer Week!
Luka, a doctor in the making from Hastings, sends massive thanks to the foundation and the countless hours the volunteers provide to help students from the regions.
We love hearing about the support that our 430 volunteers provide all throughout students` study journeys, helping them achieve their education and employment goals.

We always say our students say it best. So to continue our National Volunteer Week celebrations we asked our 2025 grant recipients to send in some words of thanks to demonstrate the incredible impact our volunteers have on their local youth, all across regional Australia!
First up is Annabella from CEF Grenfell, who kicked off her Nursing studies this year, and shared her appreciation for not only the financial support she has received but the mentoring and guidance her local foundation is giving her.

A few weeks ago we were proud sponsors for the Galah regional photography prize. We are big fans of the work Annabelle does at Galah documenting the stories of regional Australia, highlighting the beauty, freedom and opportunities within these communities. The regional photography prize is a fantastic initiative that supports and celebrates the work of regional artists.
Supporting art in regional Australia is so important for fostering diversity, ideas and culture. Living in Wiradjuri country, we are fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of creatives who significantly enrich our communities and help tell our stories.
The awards night was a fantastic celebration of all the wonderful artists and we were thrilled to have been a part of it. Big thank you to Annabelle + Soph + the entire Galah team for this initiative. For those who have not seen it yet, I encourage you all to check out the full catalogue of finalists (via Galah).
Thanks for having us! locallovely galah.press annabellehickson!

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with @charlessturtuni!
With $133,000 in co-funding per year from 2025, this partnership will increase direct financial support for CEF students enrolled at the university, helping ease the transition into university education and ensuring students feel supported by both their community and institution.
In collaboration with one another, CEF and Charles Sturt are committed to empowering the next generation of leaders from regional Australia to help communities grow and flourish.

A big happy Friday from our @charlessturtuni students, Isabella and Jayden!
Both students are great examples that education not only changes lives, but also communities. Isabella, from CEF Griffith, has just commenced her Honours in Psychology and hopes to one day work in criminal psychology and Jayden, from CEF Orange & Districts, is studying Pharmacy to develop greater treatments for cancers.

With Mother’s Day around the corner, what better time to share the inspiring giving story of mother and daughter duo Julia and Peita Burton Taylor.
Co-founder of the Country Education Foundation of Australia (CEF), Julia Burton Taylor OAM and her daughter Peita Burton Taylor, Deputy Chair of CEF and CEO of the Burton Taylor Foundation, are deeply committed to fostering positive change by supporting young people in pursuing further education, particularly in rural and regional areas. It is a passion they hope to instil in future generations.
As Peita told She Gives: “It’s important that [future generations] experience firsthand the impact and importance of contributing to others, both through conversations and direct involvement. Ensuring that each family member feels a sense of ownership over the cause or organisation they support is vital, as it fosters a deeper connection and commitment to the work we do.
“As Mum said, I hope more people can experience this, so giving becomes second nature to them as well.”

Wishing all mothers and mother figures a very special day this Sunday.
